COUNCIL MEMBERSHIP

Dottie Titus, also of Mid-Atlantic is very interested in the Council's work but too busy as of this date. Of l6 Helpers who expressed interest in serving on Council, seven volunteered to come to Sevenoaks for this meeting, and six actually showed up.  Maraiel noted that she had communicated with all l6, asking them for help in reducing the size to a workable one (like 8) and received little feedback from the l6. We agreed on an agenda for the three days after some discussion. Some concern was expressed about the lack of geographical balance, as well as gender balance but we believe it wise to press on anyway in the hope these imbalances will be corrected in the future.

We briefly considered whether we should be an international or North American Council and opted for the latter out of efficiency.  We then decided to focus first on minimal " criteria" for helpership; "standards" seem way beyond our mission at this time. We also agree that identifying responsibilities of the Helper's Council will emerge as we move further in our discussion; best not to try for an abstract set now.  We then agreed that responsibilities of present council members are: (l) serve for one year; (2) liaison with regional boards, councils, other helpers; (3) commit to attending one more in-person meeting sometime next year.

JANUARY 1999 SURVEY

We then turned to a review of the Foundation survey, particularly those items relating to Helpers.   We agreed to use the data in drafting our first letter to Helpers. It also is clear that we will need to take up issue of dues and Council budget later this week.

TRAINING PROGRAM DOCUMENTATION

Catherine agreed to coordinate receiving, and then sending out to each of us, regional rep reports on existing PTP and Pathwork Studies programs, Helper training and counselor training programs, etc (see minutes from later days for final  dispensation on this).

ASSIGNMENTS

Responsibilities were divided among the group members to review TP, Pathwork Studies,  Helpership Training,  Ethics, and Procedures and Policies from each region and other states or chapters.  The assignments are as follows:

Helper Training:  Donna, Irene, Jeff.
PTP:  Jeff, Catherine, Melanie
All: Policies and Procedures
Maraiel:  Code of Ethics
Irene will get the Core Energetics manual on Ethics
Donna will get BBSH handbook to review
Roddy Duchesne can include himself on any or all sub-committees.

We were going to look at each program from the following:

How are they similar?
How are they different?
What are the minimal requirements?
What are the Main Objectives for each year of training?

Next Steps: Each member will gather programs from their region and send it to Catherine Nelson.  All information regarding Helpership Training will go to Donna.

Note inserted in the Minutes at this point:  "Dates for completion of each task were recorded by Catherine Nelson.  These dates are in her last e-mail. They can be included in the compilation of the minutes, I'll not repeat them here."

TERMINOLOGY

A lengthy discussion was had about the difference between Region, State, Chapter etc.   After an evening meeting with the Louise Stevenson we were informed that a Region is an Affiliate which has become a legal non-for-profit organization and has the approval of the Foundation Trustees.  A State is possibly one or two helpers in a state giving doing Pathwork although not approved by the Foundation to offer TP Programs or Helpership Training.  A Chapter is a group or a couple helpers who are offering Pathwork in their area and are not as of yet authorized by the Foundation to offer Helpership Training.  Although, Louise states this is because of the number of Helpers in the area is limited to how much they hold.

POTENTIAL DATES FOR MEETINGS

Several dates in 2000 A.D. were set aside until several members can check their calendars and the two new possible members contacted.  The dates are in order of preference: April 6-10; May 26-29; and March 31-April 3. Maraiel likes Debra at World Class vacations for reservations.  Her number is 1-800-755-2417 in case others wish to make use of her services.

INFORMATION FROM THE FOUNDATION

Louise Stevenson met with the us (Maraiel was at another meeting) Wed night to answer Qs we have about regions vs. other PW groups--states, chapters, etc.  Louise explained that a letter has just gone out to a committee of several PW Helpers to begin the process of looking at how, when, under what circumstances, new groups can and should form.  At present there are 5 Regions--Mid-Atlantic Region, Phila, NY, CA, Great Lakes and several other groups--Ottawa, Georgia, North West Pathwork, Vermont.  Louise discussed a two tier system: one level would be the regions, and the second level would be everyone else.

The "authorized" regions or "affiliates" have been chartered by the Foundation and incorporated legally.  Only these regions qualify to train Pathwork Helpers and these are the only groups that do so at this time. Louise will ask Ann Norfolk to send Maraiel a list of all the PW groups with the names of the contact person and addresses, phone numbers, etc. Our group and Louise's group overlap somewhat and need to continue to share information and developments as things happen.  All of the PW affiliates and chapters, etc., can teach and do teach a range of classes and workshops.  Our committee will be collecting information about TP trainings, codes of ethics, and other offerings.

PATHWORDS

Donovan requested an article for PATHWORDS, and it was agreed to give him the "master letter" we have developed.

"MASTER LETTER" & QUESTIONNAIRE

Our Council met with the Foundation at 10 am and we reviewed with them what we had accomplished.  We asked questions to clarify Susan's E-mail, and they were eager for us to do more with asking for contributions and addressing financial matters in our first mailing.  We later revised the letter and expanded the focus to include statements about finance and requests for contributions.  We also discussed a number of other topics including handing in a Council budget before the day ended so the Foundation could work with it before their meeting ended on Friday.  Lastly it was agreed that the Foundation committee will review our minutes, and once approved, the minutes will be posted on the Leadership Circle.

Donna will be the recipient of all materials about Helpership Training instead of Catherine.  Donna needs to see these materials early this summer because of her own planning of the Philadelphia Helpership Training for the fall.

After the meeting with the Foundation members, our Council worked on the "master letter;" the beginnings of another letter to go to the various PW groups in Tier 2 for requesting information about any Policy and Procedures, Transformation Programs, Code of Ethics, PW Lecture Studies, and Basic Programs.  Our Council also designed a questionnaire for PW Helpers to respond to this summer; and we discussed different possible benefits for PHANA members including electronic services such as a directory listing.

The last item on the agenda was to sketch the next steps once the meeting ended.
