1st Annual Report
April 30, 2003

OUR 1st YEAR

April 30, 2003 marked the end of our first year since PHANA’s launch as an association with members.[1]  During the 12 months ending on that date, we:

¨      Gained a membership of 60, of which 57 were Helpers and 3 were Apprentice Helpers.  The three states with the most members on April 30, 2003, were NY – 16; CA – 13; VA – 11.

¨      Created a professional Register of Pathwork Helpers and mounted it on the PHANA website (www.phana.org) which provides information on PHANA, including its Council, history, mission, services, all reports to the Foundation plus the PHANA/Foundation agreement.  The site also provides information on training programs in North America , and helpership materials.

¨      Commenced additional member service offerings.  The first of these is a service that helps members wanting to publicize their practices and events via the World-Wide Web and to create logos, business cards, and letterheads.  There are considerable advantages to having a webpage or website with a link from your entry in the PHANA Register of Pathwork Helpers.

¨      Were very active in work towards improving connections within the Pathwork community in North America .  The PHANA Coordinator visited all 5 of the US Affiliates, visits paid for by donors, not PHANA.  He also attended two meetings of the Pathwork Foundation Board within 2002, and a meeting of the US Affiliates in 2003.

¨      Signed a PHANA/Foundation agreement with the Pathwork Foundation Board in October 2002.  This states PHANA’s mission, organization, authority and reporting.

 ONGOING PROJECTS

¨      North American Leadership and Helper Training Meetings.

These working meetings are being organized by PHANA in cooperation with the Sevenoaks Center where they will be located.  They are scheduled for August 18-20, 2003 .  The aim of the Leadership Meeting is to discuss ways of building more effective North American Pathwork leadership arrangements, possibly including the creation of a collegial coordinating body for the Pathwork in North America .  The provisional name of this body is North American Pathwork Council.  PHANA Council has prepared a preliminary draft discussion document relating to this body.

The Helper Training Meeting will explore possibilities for increasing dialogue, cooperation and cross-fertilization between Helper training programs.  Discussion papers are being prepared for this meeting also, including a draft PHANA Code of Conduct for Pathwork Helpers and Apprentice Helpers.

¨      Pathwork Teachers Helper service

This service helps PHANA members share exercises and materials for teaching the Pathwork.  The service is being developed cooperatively by PHANA and the Pathwork Press.  It makes use of a database of teaching materials mounted on the Pathwork Foundation website.  The service will commence within the first half of calendar 2003.  We will let you know by email when the service is up and running!

¨      Q & A Project

PHANA has permission from the Foundation to make available unedited Q & A texts to PHANA members as soon as copyrighting of the Q & As is completed.  CD is the projected distribution medium.  We expect to be able to issue these texts in the second half of calendar 2003.

¨      Extension of PHANA membership

PHANA Council is working to progressively extend PHANA membership categories both within North America (e.g. Trainees), and outside (e.g. Overseas Helpers).  PHANA is also commencing discussions with the Foundation concerning possible PHANA collaboration in the formation of an International Pathwork Helpers Association (IPHA).

PHANA COUNCIL

The work outlined above was done by the PHANA Council, which had the following membership on April 30, 2003:

California : Brooks Greene-Barton, Canada : Roddy Duchesne (Council Coordinator),  Georgia : Cynthia Schwartzberg, Mid-Atlantic: Alegria Barbara Strauss,  Minnesota : Dottie Titus , New York : Donna Gray,  Vermont : Sahra Aschenbach.

Council has been and continues to be significantly assisted by Ann Conover ( Arizona ), collecting information on Helper training in North America ;  Lorraine Marino ( Philadelphia ), providing liaison with the “The 50/50 Work©”; and Jan Rigsby ( Australia ), Councilor at large.

[1]   While PHANA’s first members joined in April 2002, PHANA Council has been in existence since June 1999, when it started work in preparation for the launch of PHANA.
